The Security business of GE Infrastructure, Arden Hills, Minn., announced the acceptance of its Advent Fire system for use by the City of New York Department of Buildings (MEA 178-03-E).

The Materials, Equipment and Acceptance (MEA) Division ensures that certain permanent building materials and appliances meet the minimum standards required in the Building Code, thus increasing the safety of all New York City buildings. Advent Fire’s MEA approval means that it can be sold and installed in New York City buildings. Markets that benefit include businesses, low-rise applications, apartments, condominiums, construction sites, commercial applications, historical sites, marinas, and others per MEA listing.

“Dealers benefit from the approval of Advent Fire products for use in New York City,” said Keith Moore, business development manager/ project engineer for GE Security. “With Advent Fire’s wireless initiating devices, installers do not have the cost of disturbing or removing asbestos for pulling wires. Advent Fire’s wireless initiating devices also allow for quicker installations, decreasing labor costs for dealers and down time for their customers.” For information visit www.gesecurity.com.
