The 2006 ISC West show featured more exhibitors and floor space than ever before, and the 2007 show is on track to beat those records.

Where will you be on March 28, 2007?

Perhaps among the tens of thousands of security professionals attending that little annual trade show at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas! The International Security Conference & Exposition — ISC West 2007 — is an amazing venue that draws security professionals from around the world. Today it is considered to be “the show” among the security installer community, because many manufacturers gear their product developments around ISC West, and other organizations plan award announcements at the show.

For example, the Security Industry Association’s annual New Product Showcase is an award program for innovation in product design, and throughout the years has become a harbinger of security industry trends.SDMis pleased to present to you, in print, descriptions of all of the 2007 New Product Showcase entrants, beginning on page 135 of this issue.

We are excited to announce thatSDM’s senior editor, Russ Gager, will be participating this year — for the first time — as one of the judges in the SIA New Product Showcase. Results of this year’s NPS awards will be announced at 3 p.m. on March 28 on the show floor.

Also at the show,SDMwill be announcing the winners of its own Securing America Awards program, which honors suppliers for innovative, informative marketing material. Winners will be displayed inSDM’s booths (#12139 and #22142).

For the second year in a row, ISC West will feature the Urban Security “show-within-a-show,” which features exhibitors covering security for applications such as city and commercial property protection.

The show features new educational tracks, including an IP Institute and roundtable discussions. The IP Institute will include a Level I, one-day session, and a Level II, two-day session — both specifically geared toward those from the physical security market.SDM’s contributing technology writer, David Engebretson, will be speaking at two sessions. On March 27 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., he will present “Holes in the Fence: Prevention of Security System Breaches of Networked Edge Devices.” Engebretson’s second presentation, titled “Network Video Options and Applications,” will be held March 29 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

In addition to the larger-than-ever exhibit floor space, ISC West will feature two “shows-within-a-show.”Urban Security features exhibitors covering security for applications such as city and commercial property protection.SmartHome@ISCis an inaugural event, and will feature products and technologies for residential installers and home automation experts.
