ScanSource Security, a distributor of physical security solutions, kicked off the 2009 edition of its IP Workshop series. The workshops were developed to train and educate dealers on the benefits of offering IP-based physical security solutions to their end-user customers.

More than 320 resellers attended the workshops in 2008, which included a wireless component for select workshops. For 2009 the company will incorporate wireless education into each workshop. The wireless module will focus on point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and mesh network solutions. The 2009 series also will include the technologies of 14 ScanSource partners, including Alvarion, Axis Communications, Cisco, DigiOp, dotworkz, HID, IQinVision, Keri Systems, OnSSI, Panasonic Systems Solutions, Quadrox, Ruckus Wireless, Sony and Tropos Networks.

The two-day workshop consists of a Networking 101 class, the comprehensive introduction to wireless, and an overview of video basics and access control technologies. Attendees also will have an opportunity to visit vendor displays to learn more about the specific products being featured at the workshop.

“These workshops were created to help our dealers learn more about the evolving landscape of the security market and to ensure they are on the leading-edge of new technologies, so that as the security market changes, they can remain ahead of the competition,” said Paul Constantine, vice president of merchandising, ScanSource Security.
