On-Q/Legrand, Harrisburg, Pa., has announced the acquisition of UStec, Victor, N.Y. On-Q/Legrand will merge the existing business of UStec into its Harrisburg, Pa., operations and continue selling the product under the UStec brand alongside current On-Q branded product.

For 15 years, UStec has sold structured wiring systems for the residential marketplace. On-Q/Legrand, a subsidiary of Legrand North America, creates and markets integrated entertainment, communications and comfort systems for the residential home systems market.

On-Q/Legrand’s home technology products are sold and installed through a network of distributors, dealers and residential builders.

This acquisition provides On-Q/Legrand with the ability to bring more products to market, give its customers greater choices to grow their businesses and to reach more homes through this new dealer direct channel.

UStec has its products installed in more than one quarter of a million homes. The combination of the two companies’ technical teams and joint developments is designed to provide all the two companies’ customers with expanded solutions.

Doug Fikse will continue as the president of On-Q/Legrand. The UStec brand will be served from the On-Q/Legrand headquarters in Harrisburg.

Although there is some overlap in current structured wiring product lines, these lines are differentiated by value, performance, service and channel, the company stated. It believes the combination of advanced product technology, marketing programs, expanded customer sales and service will help its customers compete in their growing markets and increase their profits.
