Protection 1, Romeoville, Ill., introduced P1 Life, a comprehensive service combining monitored security with home automation to provide a more complete user experience. While continuing Protection 1’s focus on home security and safety, the new product suite enhances the customer experience by enabling users to control other household functions such as temperature and lighting, and do it through a smart phone, tablet or personal computer, the company said.

P1 Life also incorporates a new color touchscreen keypad, which is unlike any previous Protection 1 keypad, as well as two-way voice, allowing Protection 1 operators to speak directly to someone on the premise as soon as an alarm signal is received.

“Over the course of my 27 months with Protection 1, we’ve been singularly focused on providing a second-to-none customer experience,” said chief executive officer, Timothy J. Whall. “Whether it’s answering customer calls in one ring, committing to not transferring those calls, eliminating automated voice prompts, providing same-day service or sharing updates on when a technician will be arriving at a home or business, complete with a photo and credentials of the individual, I believe we’ve been successful in that effort. P1 Life is another extension of that philosophy.”

P1 Life was designed to both protect and connect. With approximately half of all U.S. adults carrying smart phones, P1 life allows customers to, among several other things, arm or disarm their system remotely, watch live security video, lock and unlock doors and control their lighting and thermostat. Heating and cooling connectivity allows for more efficient use of energy, saving consumers hundreds of dollars on their annual energy expenses.

P1 Life offerings start at $34.99 per month with $99 professional installation, and the most feature-laden package is $54.99 per month with $349 professional installation.
