A portion of the proceeds of SIA Honors Night benefits the Mission 500 nonprofit organization, which is organizing the security industry to sponsor 1,000 children in need, providing access to life-changing basics such as food, clean water, healthcare and education.

Mission 500 Advisory Board chair Hervé Fages (senior vice president of Pelco by Schneider Electric) updated the audience on Mission 500 milestones during the course of 2014, and introduced Vianeli Garcia, a young college student who has benefitted from World Vision’s programs in the United States.

Garcia spoke bravely about the challenges that faced her early in her life. She credited World Vision for helping her become, “not another statistic,” and told the crowd, she dreams that one day she will “be a CEO.”

Guests at SIA Honors Night who were puzzled by the orange paper napkins at the dinner table soon caught on when Mission 500 shared details of its “Orange Campaign.” It will be rolled out to the security industry over the coming months — the focal point being helping children in America who are living in poverty. Guests waved the orange napkins over their heads at the urging of Fages who rallied the industry to continue to help children in need.
