AlarmQuest, a commercial and residential security integrations business headquartered in Winston-Salem, N.C., announced that on Sept. 8, 2020, Ben Scott joined the executive team of AlarmQuest in order to help lead the company in its growth, both organically and through strategic acquisitions.

Scott has been named President of AlarmQuest and is joining Jay Brown (owner and CEO) and Robert Gefaell (owner and director of acquisitions) on the executive team.

Having been in the security industry for 15 years, Scott’s path has taken him from his early days at ADT to most recently ADS Security, the 19th largest security business in the United States prior to being sold to Vector Security in June of 2019. During his long tenure at ADS, Scott served as the senior vice president over the East region and was responsible for leading all branch operations and merger and acquisition efforts at the branch level. Prior to his role as senior vice president, Scott served as vice president and general manager for many years.

“I am humbled to be asked to take on this new challenge and I look forward to learning from the experienced, quality team at AlarmQuest,” Scott said. “AQ is a young company in the industry and its size allows it to be nimble and adapt quickly to the ever-present changes in our industry. AQ has a talented team of individuals with many years in the industry, and a great platform for growth – I am beyond excited to be able to help grow AlarmQuest and serve our customers for many years to come.”

Scott will be joining Jay Brown, a security alarm industry veteran and the former co-owner and president of AlarmSouth. Brown led his father’s business from its early days until Brown’s departure in the spring of 2019. Brown saw an industry in which its participants grew complacent in their technology, offerings, and customer service, and one in which inferior retail offerings became available in the “do-It-yourself” (DIY) market – he started AlarmQuest to serve as a solution to these problems.

“Ben has been on our radar for some time now and we are excited to finally have him as part of the AQ family,” Brown said. “Ben will be leading the day-to-day operations for us and his knowledge of the industry and background in branch operations and M&A will continue to put AQ in a strong position to grow in our existing markets and expand into new ones. I am confident Ben is the best person to help push AQ to the next level.”

Scott also joins Gefaell, a debt and equity investor whose resume includes stops at Royal Bank of Canada, Salem Capital Partners and Charlotte based Plexus Capital where he was a founding partner.

“I have gotten to know Ben and have been thoroughly impressed with who he is as a person and as an industry leader” Gefaell said. “What he has accomplished in the security industry is second to none. I have no doubt adding Ben to the AlarmQuest team will have a meaningful impact on the continued success of an already successful company.”

Brown added that Scott’s expertise and experience adds plenty to the AlarmQuest executive team.

“When you combine my 40-plus years of experience in the security industry, Robert’s investment and business growth background, and Ben’s operational and M&A experience you end up with a powerful leadership team that all but guarantees the continued success and market dominance of AlarmQuest, and the satisfaction of our customers,” Brown said.
