The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Peter Boriskin, chief technology officer at ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions, as the new chair of SIA’s Standards Committee. 

Even before the pandemic, the security industry was staring down the barrel of a future fraught with workforce development challenges. Now even more acute, leaders from across the industry discuss how they are maneuvering to overcome talent shortages, become more diverse, adopt hybrid workplace models, among other challenges to remain viable.

These security industry professionals and students will use their awards for continuing education, repayment of student loan debt and professional development.

New for 2022 is a panel of corporate security leaders who will be exploring challenges ranging from big data and cybersecurity of physical security solutions to how to gain intelligence from enterprise-level security system installations.

Force Security Solutions President Ken Kocher will help guide FAST’s efforts to promote careers in the physical security technology industry.

Supported by the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST), the 2023 RISE Scholarship program will provided selected candidates with $3,000 awards.

The Biden administration had previously emphasized the legislation is vital to national security, competing with China, and reducing U.S. dependence on Taiwan and South Korea for critical technologies.

SIA released an analysis of the new developments in New Orleans, stating the technology “remains a post-incident investigative tool to aid identification — but not confirm identities.”

The $5,000 awards support the professional development goals of individual SIA members and student members who specialize in identity management.
