Many in the security industry have suddenly realized — almost overnight — they are in trouble when it comes to how they handle the issue of cyber security. And while they may have started out by pointing fingers at others, such as the end users or “IT,” they have now come to realize that the only way forward is teamwork and making sure each participant in the security chain plays their role to the best of their ability.

Resideo Technologies Inc. has acquired Buoy Labs, based in Santa Cruz, Calif. The newly acquired company produces an innovative Wi-Fi enabled solution that tracks the amount of water used in a home, integrating smart software and hardware that can identify potential leaks and intervene to prevent them through its subscription-based app services. 

The newly established Open Security & Safety Alliance (OSSA or 'the Alliance'), a non-profit, non-stock corporation formed to outline specifications for a common standardized platform for security and safety solutions, announced that since its formation in Fall 2018, the organization has grown by 50 percent and initiatives are in full swing.

William Allen Fritts Sr., of Old Saybrook, Conn., formerly of Durham, passed away on March 18, 2019, at age 68.
