ISC Education

Reed Exhibitions and the Security Industry Association (SIA) have partnered to rebuild ISC Education. The new and improved program – developed with the guidance of a newly created ISC Education Advisory Board – will now offer customized training and education for physical security and network professionals based on their specific job functions. As a result, conference attendees will be able to identify more readily which of the more than 100 ISC West sessions match their individual needs. Conference tracks and individual sessions now focus on the following functional areas:
  • Business Development / Management / Sales
  • Architecture / Design / Engineering
  • End-User Solutions
  • Dealer / Installer / Integrator
  • Security Management
  • IT / IP Convergence
  • Central Stations
For information on specific sessions, please visit www.iscwest.com.

In addition, SIA brings you a special educational session – free to all ISC West 2009 show and conference attendees – on an innovative new tool that will help you to get the most out of your staff: SIA’s Curriculum Map. A session on Understanding SIA’s Curriculum Map will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in room 202 of the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Las Vegas. You must register by contacting Arminda Valles-Hall, SIA’s director of education, at (703) 647-8583 or avalleshall@siaonline.org.

Expanding the Role of Central Stations through Remote-Managed Services

Honeywell will present Expanding the Role of Central Stations through Remote-Managed Services at ISC West. The session, led by Honeywell senior marketing manager John Smith, will address how dealers and central stations can utilize remote-managed services to manage all aspects of their customers’ access control systems while providing more value.

Attendees will learn how to generate recurring monthly revenue (RMR) by creating security solutions that can help customers streamline business processes, in addition to protecting their facilities. Additionally, attendees will learn how remote-managed services can enable dealers to simplify operations and eliminate inefficiencies for both their internal staffs and end user customers.

“Many end users are exasperated with the day-to-day administration of access control,” Smith said. “Loading cards, deleting cards, and backing up their computers regularly were among the biggest frustrations. Now, dealers can shift this responsibility from their customers to remote managed services, which makes this offering much more appealing.”

The presentation, Session #CS06, is offered under the Central Station track of the educational programs at ISC West 2009 and is suitable for dealers, integrators, and central station providers. It is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31

A Scalable and Flexible Approach to Deploying IP Video (IP05)

Verint® Systems Inc. announced that Verint® Video Intelligence Solutions™, along with Henry Bros. Electronics Inc., will present A Scalable and Flexible Approach to Deploying IP Video (IP05) during ISC West. In this IP video-focused session, the companies will explore the migration of analog CCTV to IP video networks and their integration within enterprise IT infrastructures. It will take place on Wednesday, April 1 at 3:00 p.m. IP video systems enable video to be managed like all other enterprise information technology assets, using standard IP networks, servers and storage, supported with conventional IT skill sets and corporate policies. Steve Foley, senior vice president and general manager, Americas, Verint Video Intelligence Solutions, and Jim Henry, president, Henry Bros. Electronics, will host this dynamic IP video-focused session that explores how to build an IP technology roadmap that merges analog and digital cameras, encoders, and network video recording and management assets into standard IT infrastructures.

AMAG Technology Educational Forums

AMAG Technology will lead two educational forums at ISC West at the Sands Expo and Convention Center.

FIPS 201, Government ID Programs and your Security System, will take place on Wednesday, April 1 from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

AMAG Technology product manager and government ID program expert, Adam Shane, PSP, has created a panel that will discuss this topic. The panel consists of Nathan Cummings, director, Integration/Applications from HID Global; Geri Castaldo, CEO of Codebench Inc.; and Tony Damalas ME, PSP, vice president, Technology from Diebold. These industry experts provide a range of perspectives and are heavily involved with the federal government decision-makers on the various ID programs.

Be Flexible and Move Video Storage to the Edge, will take place on Wednesday, April 1, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Shane will also be presenting this session. When a security system is pushed to the edge, the result is a system that is easy to install and maintain, while reducing network bandwidth challenges and conserving valuable network resources. This presentation will teach how using edge network technology, PoE access control and IP video, can provide a resilient flexible security management system for any application.

Locations of these sessions will be published in the ISC West show guide. To attend please visit www.iscwest.com for information about how to register.
