The new outdoor gunshot detection sensor was developed using machine-learning techniques and combining acoustic and infrared sensing for advanced accuracy and earlier threat awareness.
The technology uses acoustic, infrared data and a machine learning algorithm to determine the specific firearm to eliminate false alarms, provide real-time information and connect all key security personnel through one singular platform.
Originally intended to support 20 schools, the program will now provide 50 schools across the United States with three years of free access to Omnilert’s AI Gun Detection.
Sarasota County Schools already completed a successful deployment in one of its high schools the past year, which received overwhelmingly positive results and response from parents and staff, according to the announcement.
Omnilert has integrated Omnilert Gun Detect with the Hanwha Vision Wisenet WAVE video management software (VMS) to provide a complete solution for gun violence and active shooters.
