As a current business advisor to Hakimo, MacGuard celebrates the ongoing success of this innovative AI security company and its AI Operator — an autonomous security agent for physical security monitoring.

The company’s AI Operator combines computer vision and generative AI to monitor existing security hardware, detect threats in real time, and execute response protocols just like a human security professional.

Hakimo was founded in early 2020 by Sam Joseph and Sagar Honnungar, both Stanford-trained AI experts experienced in developing enterprise-grade software as a service (SaaS). Joseph, Hakimo’s co-founder and CEO, stressed that this technology comes at a critical inflection point for physical security. The traditional manned guarding industry struggles with hiring and quality challenges, while alarm monitoring services face growing issues with false alarms and police departments that increasingly refuse to respond to unverified alerts. By leveraging existing cameras, AI capabilities, and remote operators, Hakimo addresses these challenges while offering the advantages of both on-site guards and traditional alarm systems.
