F.E. Moran Inc. Alarm and Monitoring Services, Northbrook, Ill., completed its first acquisition in the metropolitan Detroit area. The company acquired Grosse Pointe Alarm Inc., a Michigan-based company.

Grosse Pointe Alarm has more than 6,600 accounts and 28 employees, all of whom will remain with the company. Founders and former owners, Tom Stong and Bob Barnes, will both retire.

“We are thrilled to have joined forces with Grosse Pointe Alarm. We are committed to the Michigan marketplace and hope to make our presence felt in both a quality manner and with a strong contribution to the community,” said Brett Bean, Moran president. According to Bean, there are no plans to move Grosse Pointe Alarms’ facilities.

Grosse Pointe Alarms has been in business for 25 years, and the mix of accounts is 20 percent commercial and 80 percent residential. The company’s existing central station will continue to operate as before. Purchase price was not disclosed.

Representing the seller was Ron Davis, managing partner of Davis Marketing Group (aka The Graybeards), Long Grove, Ill. This is the fourth acquisition made by Moran in which Davis has represented the seller.
