OPTICAL GIGABIT SWITCH SYSTEM FOR ETHERNET APPLICATIONS
November 1, 2006
The IQ1000 Quasar Smart Switch System from CBL Systems is designed to provide a low-cost, redundant, self-managed optical gigabit switch for Ethernet applications. The system is plug-and-go, and will automatically configure into a self-healing network. No software or manual configuration is required. In addition, there is no re-engineering or network re-configuration required for network expansion, eliminating network downtime. Ethernet appliances such as video cameras, digital recorders and control devices interface the network through one of three available RJ-45 ports. The system adapts by auto-negotiating to 10/100/1000 Mbps based on the requirement of the appliance. If fiber breaks or power is lost, the system will automatically re-configure within milliseconds of the interruption. The IQ1000 also provides a RS232/RS422/RS485 interface to connect a serial device for broadcast applications as well as sense and control for legacy applications. The product operates up to 80km and is compatible with both single-mode and multimode fiber. Customized discrete input/output controls are configurable for sense and control, although there is an RS232/422/485 serial port for legacy equipment.
