Former U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Michael Chertoff will address the Security Industry Association (SIA) 2010 Government Summit in June, SIA announced last week.

 

Chertoff served as the head of DHS from 2005 to 2009. The Bush administration’s point man in protecting the United States against terrorism, he previously served as a judge on the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals and as a federal prosecutor. He is the co-founder and managing principal of The Chertoff Group, a consulting agency that specializes in risk prevention, crisis management and post-crisis recovery.

 

“We are excited and honored to have Secretary Chertoff join us at the Government Summit,” said Don Erickson, SIA government relations director. “Secretary Chertoff advised the president on critical infrastructure protection issues affecting every American. He knows how homeland security policy is made in Washington, and SIA Government Summit attendees will have the benefit of hearing what practical lessons can be drawn from his experiences at DHS.”

 

The SIA Government Summit is scheduled for June 8-9 at the Embassy Suites Washington Convention Center Hotel in Washington, D.C. Chertoff and other experts from federal agencies and congressional offices will deliver presentations about biosecurity, identity management, stimulus spending, procurement and more. Other featured speakers include:

Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist George Will and Mike McCurry, White House press secretary during the Clinton administration, have been scheduled as keynote speakers.
