Linear LLC announced it plans to consolidate its business with Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Aigis Mechtronics Inc., a manufacturer of electronic video surveillance and access control equipment. Aigis Mechtronics’ functions and products will be integrated with those of Linear during the first quarter of 2011.

The company brings to Linear a 20-year history as a technology-driven designer of components that protect, position and mount CCTV surveillance equipment. Its products are used in retail, finance, education, hospitality, government, office buildings and parking areas and include monitors, cameras, camera housings and mounts, integrated camera/housing packages, pan/tilt units and entry turnstiles. Aigis Mechtronics also has long served original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with custom and private-labeling services.

“The integration of Aigis Mechtronics’ products expands and complements our already robust presence in commercial security and access systems,” said Todd Hokunson, vice president of sales for Linear Electronic Systems. “The new line will benefit our commercial security customers by making even more security products available from one source.”

Aigis’ customers will benefit from Linear’s world-class training and technical support, and, will be unaffected by the consolidation, according to Hokunson. The Aigis sales team will remain as the primary liaison for the product line. Technical and customer support functions, along with other business operations, will be combined at Linear’s headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif. and at its manufacturing facility in Casanovia, Mich.
