GVI Replaces Samsung with LG

After terminating an 11-year relationship with Samsung at the beginning of this year, GVI Security Solutions, Carrollton, Texas, a developer and producer of video surveillance solutions for the mass mid-market, will announce at ISC West, a similarly structured strategic partnership with LG Electronics, Seoul, Korea. GVI will serve as LG’s master distributor and will represent LG’s line of advanced video surveillance solutions in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

LG is perhaps best known for extensive offerings in consumer electronics and appliances. In fact, the company has an established presence in the security market under its own brand globally, with the exception of North America. One of the primary drivers of this new relationship with GVI is LG’s deep interest in North American expansion. “LG’s senior management has made it a corporate wide objective to become big player in the North American security market,” said Steven Walin, chief executive officer at GVI.

Silas Choi, group leader of the Security Overseas Marketing Group, LG Electronics, added, “GVI has a verified channel management capability in the security business, local technical support and service, which LG Electronics doesn’t have at the moment. In addition, GVI has a long-term relationship with a Korean company so that GVI may understand the Korean style of business, working and culture.”

According to Choi, the short-term goal of this partnership is to create a strong market presence and establish a meaningful market share for the LG brand in the security industry. Its long-term goal is for the partnership to expand its business-to-business areas which both companies can cover.

Monitoring in the Cloud
SureView Systems, Tampa, Fla., developer of Immix®, a video-based automation platform for the security alarm industry, plans to announce Immix Cloud to the media, customers, partners, and industry analysts in attendance at this year’s ISC West show on Wednesday, April 6 at booth # 17125.

Immix Cloud is a private cloud offering enabling central stations and command centers to deliver the next generation of monitoring services such as event-based video monitoring, remote guard tours, video escorts and unattended deliveries while reducing operational costs. Immix Cloud achieves this by consolidating video, access control, audio and alarm events into a single point of control. The software, due to be released in the third quarter of this year, builds on the success of Immix Enterprise, SureView’s UL classified automation platform, being upgraded for Windows® 7 this April, used by customers worldwide, the company said.

SureView plans to announce a Software as a Service (SaaS) version of Immix Cloud in the fourth quarter of 2011 aimed at the physical security information management (PSIM) market. “The addition of Immix Cloud to our product portfolio creates a new option for the market in the way users deliver service to their customers. The architecture simplifies deployment and delivers the cost efficient and fast implementation models users are demanding,” said Scott Haugland, chief operating officer of SureView Systems.
