Studies earmarked by the Alarm Industry Research and Education Foundation (AIREF) have, over the years, demonstrated the usefulness of alarm systems and the importance of police response to alarms — and most recently, shown the support of law enforcement officials for the Security Industry Alarm Association (SIAC), and its work to improve alarm management practices across North America.

An annual golf tournament held in Las Vegas in conjunction with ISC West is AIREF’s sole fundraiser. When you pick up your clubs each year to hit the golf course, it’s to have fun. It’s easy to forget that AIREF uses the money raised at the golf tournament to fund these types of important projects. When the industry sees the final products, such as the recently completed law enforcement video, it shows everyone in our industry that it’s not enough to just sell, install, service and monitor security systems, AIREF stated this week in a news announcement. “We also must invest in the wider issues affecting the electronic security industry. As AIREF makes these investments, it helps us build a stronger industry in the years ahead.”

The most recent video funded by AIREF is now available. It is titled “Law Enforcement Video” and it is published to a demo Web site for viewing at: http://www.vimeo.com/28446044.

AIREF said the new video, which security dealers can show at an association meeting and in meetings with law enforcement, includes great testimonials from police officers, and will be an excellent tool to build bridges with your local police department. “We can all use that,” AIREF stated.
