Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group announced the Surveillix ESV16 Linux-based embedded network video recorder (NVR). Designed specifically forSurveillix ESV16 Linux-based embedded network video recorder small to mid-size surveillance applications, the ESV16 is a flexible, scalable network appliance with support for up to 16 IP cameras and 12 TB of removable hard-drive storage, along with maximum data transfer rates of 250 Mbps. As a standalone surveillance system, the ESV16 delivers simultaneous monitoring, recording and playback with compatibility for hundreds of IP camera models from more than 30 brands, as well as all ONVIF-compliant devices. Audio and video streams encoded in H.264, MPEG4 or MJPEG formats can be recorded. The ESV16’s cube shape has internal bays for up to four HDDs totaling 12 TB to meet growing security requirements. Storage can be further extended through an external eSATA connection. Multiple ESV16 units can be deployed within a network to build a larger system.
