Door Hardware Reduces Noise in Sensitive Areas
Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies announced a suite of products equipped with quiet latches and sound-reducing exit devices. Designed for areas that are used for sleeping, healing, studying, concentrating or overall reduced noise, the suite includes a collection of Von Duprin products that includes push pads, latches and exit devices. Magnetic solenoids that provide noisy electronic latch retraction have been replaced by quieter motor-driven retraction. The new suite also incorporates a mechanical damper to decelerate mechanical push pads that the company says eliminates most of the noise. Lastly, concealed-cable exit devices eliminate the rattle of rods in the doors and the clanking of rods on the floor.
