The Electronic Security Association (ESA), Irving, Texas, announced winners of the ESA SECURE+ Awards. ESA developed the awards to showcase how SECURE+ integrators are making their customers’ lives not only safer and more secure, but also simpler, more energy efficient and convenient.

SECURE+ is a special designation offered by ESA to identify members who install home automation and integrated services. SECURE+ integrators ADT, Moon Security and Point were recognized for their work during an awards presentation at the ESA Leadership Summit on Feb. 19 in Orlando, Fla.

“Across the nation, people in growing numbers are turning to their security services provider as the trusted source for the installation, monitoring, service and maintenance of systems that are at the heart of the connected home,” said ESA Executive Director and CEO Merlin Guilbeau.

“The SECURE+ Awards are especially meaningful because they provide real life examples of how SECURE+ integrators are delivering these systems,” Guilbeau said.

Two awards were presented to Point including the SECURE+ Protect and Connect Award and the SECURE+ Sustainable Lifestyle Award.

Point received the SECURE+ Protect and Connect Award for helping Louisiana customer Mitchell Miller use his advanced system to manage care for his elderly mother who requires around the clock nursing. Miller is able to program specific codes for the various nurses who come to care for her. Miller receives an e-mail or text notifying him when nurses come and go throughout the day.

“When I have to be away on business, it’s a great comfort knowing my mother is still getting the care she needs and that I can make sure the nurses have been there,” Miller said. “I also know my mom is protected and if the need arises she can call for immediate help using two-way voice.”

Point also took home the SECURE+ Sustainable Lifestyle Award by helping Utah customer Laurie Cox and her family save money on their energy bills.

“After using the system for a while, the Cox family saw a significant savings in their overall heating bill by simply lowering the thermostat when they left home and then, using their smart phone, remotely increasing it before arriving home,” said Point Joint Venture Partner Gerrit Brusse. “They estimate their average monthly savings to be about $30 a month.”

Moon Security was presented with the SECURE+ I Love My Pet Award for illustrating how an electronic security system with advanced features can assist pet owners in caring for a beloved animal.

Pet lover and Moon Security customer Ro Vinson uses her security system with remotely accessible cameras to keep tabs on her three Golden Retrievers whenever she’s away from home.

“Our dogs are definitely important members of the family so we don’t like leaving them alone, even for short periods of time,” Vinson said. “It’s reassuring to look at the cameras on my laptop or smartphone and see if everything is okay or if they’re up to any puppy antics.”

Vinson says that peace of mind extends to knowing the company providing the system is trustworthy.

“We know and trust Moon Security because they have been a part of our community here for 50 years. Being a SECURE+ integrator is further proof they are experts in these more advanced, connected-home-type systems,” Vinson added.

The SECURE+ Peace of Mind Award went to ADT for helping bring a greater sense of safety to customer Kyle Luckie and his family in Leesburg, Ga. Luckie says he uses his enhanced home control system to remotely arm and disarm his security system, turn on and off small appliances and access real-time video. He says with two small children in the home the system offers convenience as well as peace of mind.

“The ADT system gives me the ability to see all the cameras in my home from the 7-inch touch screen keypad that sits next to my bed,” Luckie said. “The system is programmed so if someone were to break in, all of the lights throughout the house would come on immediately. It’s reassuring to know that if there were intruders, I would know where they are in the house.”

In its inaugural year, the SECURE+ Awards showcased just a few SECURE+ integrators that are responding to the growing demand for enhanced services.

“Congratulations to all of the SECURE+ Award recipients for the great work they’re doing. We look forward to building on the success of this initiative going forward,” Guilbeau added.
