ASSA ABLOY Electronic Security Hardware’s Securitron M680E Magnalock with EcoMag Technology was awarded the 2018 Green GOOD DESIGN Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, in the Green Product/Graphic Design category.

The Green GOOD DESIGN Awards recognize manufacturers and design firms that are leading the way and developing awareness around sustainability and the environment.

The new energy efficient magnalock has an increased holding strength of 1,200 lbs., and an average power draw as low as 60mA at 24V, the company described, allowing for use of smaller backup batteries and longer wire runs of thinner wire. This change in power represents a total reduced energy consumption of 80 percent over the previous Securitron M680 series.

“Sustainability is a core value at ASSA ABLOY, and we are a proud leader of sustainable products in the access control industry,” says David Corbin, director of access control accessories, ASSA ABLOY. “GOOD DESIGN has been an active driver in the sustainable industry for a long time, and it’s an honor to have our latest energy efficient product recognized with a Green GOOD DESIGN Award.”
