CEDIA announced its 2018 volunteers of the year, nominated by staff for their efforts and contributions to the organization. Each year, CEDIA recognizes three members: a new volunteer, a training volunteer and an overall volunteer.

This year’s overall volunteer, Amanda Wildman, TruMedia, joined CEDIA, attended her first CEDIA show and became a CEDIA Outreach Instructor all in 2013. Wildman serves on the Business Working Group, the CEDIA Designation Task Force, the Workforce Development Working Group and instructs at the show. She also frequently volunteers her time to help onboard new CEDIA members. According to CEDIA, Wildman is known among her peers for her enthusiasm and willingness to share her experiences to help others succeed.

Sam Woodward, Lutron, has been an active CEDIA volunteer since 2016 and is this year’s training volunteer. He has been a member of the CEDIA Technology Council and the co-chair of the joint CTA/CEDIA R10 standards body, which develops standards and recommended practices for the installations. In April, Woodward was promoted to chair of the R10 standards body. According to CEDIA, Woodward’s enthusiasm for teaching, producing documents and podcasts, and general guidance are a few things that make him deserving of this award.

The 2018 new volunteer, Lina Maria Villa, Audio Concept, joined CEDIA in 2016 and has been active with the association ever since. This year Villa volunteered to teach two classes per month in Colombia, alternating between Bogota and Medellin, and will continue teaching these classes for 10 months, providing access to CEDIA education in the Colombia market. In addition, Villa has also taught distributors, architects and engineers about the importance of CEDIA’s education and certification programs.

CEDIA will recognizing these three volunteers for their contributions at the CEDIA awards celebration at Petco Park on September 5 in conjunction with CEDIA Expo in San Diego. Tickets for the CEDIA awards event can be purchased at www.cediaexpo.com.
