In a press release detailing its second quarter 2018 earnings, APX Group Holdings, the parent company of Vivint, Provo, Utah, mentioned that it had dissolved its partnership with retailer Best Buy. The arrangement entailed Best Buy selling Vivint Smart Home hardware solutions in hundreds of its stores, while Vivint helped to provide educated smart home employees to assist retail customers. 

Todd Pedersen, CEO of APX Group, stated, ”With regards to our retail channel, [Vivint] and Best Buy agreed in principle to end the co-branded Best Buy Smart Home by Vivint arrangement. We believe there are opportunities in the retail channel, and are committed to work towards more efficient ways to better help our customers explore, learn about, and buy the latest smart home products and services.”
