URC Announces 6th Annual Unsurpassed Award Winners

URC announced today the winners of its sixth annual Unsurpassed Awards

Starting in 2014, URC’s Unsurpassed Awards celebrate excellence in residential and commercial automation installations. Entries are accepted from domestic and international URC dealers. Categories for consideration include: Best Residential, Best Commercial, Most Unique and International.

“With URC’s support and superior products, our dealers continue to surprise and delight us with unique installations in diverse environments,” said Chang K. Park, URC founder. “We thank all of our dealers for their dedication, especially those who entered our annual celebration of excellence.”

Winners of the 2020 URC’s Unsurpassed Awards include the following URC dealers:

Best Residential Installation: Fuzion Audio Video

Fuzion Audio Video won URC’s Best Residential Installation Award for a remodel of a 13,500 square foot home near Kansas City, Mo. Featuring 20 zones of audio, 16 zones of TV and one Dedicated 7.2.4 Home Theater with a 135" Slate Screen 4K Projector, this system created an entertainment powerhouse. Automated shades and lighting were installed throughout the home including in the home theater. Controlled by URC’s Total Control system and 19 URC controllers, base stations and remotes, the installation featured lighting powered by Lutron HomeWorks QS, DoorBird intercom, gate control and front door and 12 Lilin security cameras. The homeowner was “blown away” by the Fuzion’s vision and results.

Best Commercial Installation: PWCampbell

PWCampbell in Pittsburgh won URC’s Best Commercial Installation Award for a complete, innovative integration of a PeoplesBank branch. Using URC’s Total Control to integrate the bank’s day-to-day operation marked a unique approach for the financial institution. With URC products as the backbone control of the systems, the installation placed control at the bank employees’ fingertips. This includes the ability to change any screen in the branch with a click of a button while showcasing a variety of custom digital marketing messages. Following the installation, employees were able to switch from custom kiosk to wireless collaboration in seconds. URC controlled frosted glass panels in the conference rooms provided the ability to convert from public to private in milliseconds, depending on the customer’s needs. This level of control allowed the branch to be open and inviting while private and secure.

Most Unique Installation: Starpower Home Entertainment Systems Inc.

Starpower Home Entertainment Systems Inc. in Dallas won URC’s Most Unique Installation Award for an innovative integration of a residence owned by a photographer and fashion designer. Using URC’s Total Control throughout the installation, Starpower fully automated this smart home system with over 250 voice commands which control lighting, shades, audio, video and security. Each of the 23 shades can be voice activated or simply rely on celestial time to prevent the sunlight from damaging any of the client’s collectibles or artwork. “One of my favorite things is walking guests through the house and watching their reactions as I seamlessly control the audio, video and lighting with quick voice commands,” the homeowner said.

Best International Installation: Digital Lifestyles (Calgary, Alberta, Canada)

Digital Lifestyles in Calgary, Alberta, Canada won URC’s Best International Installation Award for a replacement and upgrade of a whole-home automation system. Digital Lifestyles used URC’s Total Control system to integrate all aspects of the design: Lutron lighting, Hunter Douglas shades, Lutron drapes, security, whole-house music, multi-media equipment, outdoor living space, Alexa voice integration and home theatre experience. “The project goals were to simplified design, deliver an enhanced experience, and take a client who was very hesitant with having another automation system to having met their expectations and creating a life-long URC family,” said Scott MacGillivary of Digital Lifestyles “From URC’s Scenes that helped drive the client experience to smooth, simple interface, this project demonstrated the one of a kind experience URC is known for.”
