Nortek Control, provider in the security, control, access, power/AV, health and wellness, and AI/analytics markets, has announced it will cancel its appearance at CEDIA Expo, taking place Sept. 1– Sept. 3, citing concerns over rising rates of Covid-19.

“Through conversations with our customers and after careful consideration given the recent rapid rise in Covid cases, we have decided to cancel all on-site activities and our booth presence at CEDIA 2021,” the company said in an email. “The decision to cancel wasn’t an easy one but we believe strongly that the safety and health of our Nortek Control team and the rest of the Pro AV community must be our highest priority.”

Indiana — the state where CEDIA 2021 is taking place — reported more than 4,000 new cases in the last week.

“The CEDIA Expo is still on and still remains to be the biggest trade show for the CEDIA community, despite a tough year,” said Jason McGraw, group vice president of CEDIA Expo when asked to respond for comment. “The show might be smaller, but the impact’s gotten bigger. There will be more time to connect, one-on-one with the brands that are exhibiting.”

Nortek Control says it will still share what it planned to showcase at CEDIA.

“Thank you for your understanding and continued support,” Nortek Control continued. “We look forward to when we are able to connect with you again in person.”
