Nice S.p.A., an Italian international home automation and home security company, acquired FIBARO, a brand in the global smart home market. The transaction, which was public as of Friday, July 13, is valued at $73 million and includes the entire share capital of Fibar Group S.A. including its U.S. subsidiary.
Arecont Vision, provider of IP-based megapixel camera and video surveillance solutions, announced the acquisition of its assets by Costar Technologies Inc. has been approved by the bankruptcy court. Arecont said in a press release it anticipates the sale will close on July 13, 2018.
Bold Technologies, a provider of alarm monitoring software, is pleased to announce it has completed a long-planned merger with Perennial Software, a provider of management software in the security industry. The companies will become one, with Bold bringing Perennial’s line of products, including SedonaOffice and AlarmBiller, under its umbrella.

The Electronic Security Expo (ESX) is quickly becoming the “UNevent,” redefining the traditional purpose of industry shows within the electronic security and life safety channel, the organization described in its ESX 2018 wrap-up. The event, held June 19-22 in Nashville, stated its mission was “to bring leaders together to learn more, share more and interact more.”

The Senate passed a defense spending bill June 18 that does not include a ban on certain Chinese camera manufacturers, including Hikvision and Dahua, as the House version did; however, a final bill will have to be passed by both chambers reconciling the two bills and then signed by President Trump. Whether this final bill includes the Chinese camera ban remains to be seen.
