The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced Axis Communications as the recipient of the inaugural Member of the Year Award, which honors SIA member companies that have shown noteworthy involvement in SIA committees and working groups, SIA events and the SIA Education@ISC conference program; leadership activity; recruitment of SIA members; and contributions to SIA thought leadership and the industry overall. SIA will present Axis with the award at The Advance, SIA’s annual membership meeting, during ISC West.

Per Mar Security Services, based in Davenport, Iowa, announced the hire of Chris Edwards as president of Electronic Security.

The Security Industry Association (SIA), the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security(NCS4) at the University of Southern Mississippi and ISC West are partnering to provide education on the issue of stadium security at ISC West 2019, April 9-12 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nev. As part of this partnership, SIA Education@ISC will host The Stadium of the Future, a presentation bringing together a panel of industry experts to discuss current technology and capabilities gaps in security for the sports and entertainment industry.

ONVIF, a global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, will again be participating in ISC West 2019, April 10-12, at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, Nev., with a presence in the exhibition as well as a speaker in the educational programming. 

The Monitoring Association [TMA] today announces the introduction of its Five Diamond Dealer Program. An extension of its prestigious Five Diamond Designation, which is the standard of excellence for the monitoring industry, the new program provides the means for TMA Five Diamond-designated alarm companies to share the benefits of its designation with key dealers. TMA is an internationally-recognized non-profit trade association whose mission is to advance the professional monitoring industry through education, advocacy, standards, and public safety relationships.   

William Allen Fritts Sr., of Old Saybrook, Conn., formerly of Durham, passed away on March 18, 2019, at age 68. 

The Security Industry Association (SIA) has joined an industry-led coalition expressing concerns about legislation proposed in more than 25 states to impose new requirements on state contractors that could compromise employee privacy and cyber security while increasing costs, particularly for security integrators. 

The late Don Springer started Viking Electronics in 1969, producing power supplies in the basement of his home in Hudson, Wis. 

The Security Industry Association (SIA) has selected Mark McCourt as the recipient of the 2018 Sandy Jones Volunteer of the Year Award, which recognizes SIA volunteers who have made tireless efforts to expand SIA’s programs and services.
