I’m a big baseball fan, and really know very little about the game of football. So it’s ironic that I would get the opportunity to see two great Chicago football players recently, and to actually meet one of them!
The first was a chance meeting a couple of weeks ago. I was having breakfast at a pancake house and looked up to see Chicago Bears #54 Brian Urlacher come in to eat at the same restaurant – at a secluded table in the back, of course!

Just a few days later, on October 30, I attended the grand opening celebration of Tri-Ed’s new Chicago branch, where Football Hall-of-Fame player Dan Hampton, who was on the 1985 Chicago Bears Superbowl winning team, was present to help welcome guests.

Hampton was very gracious as he talked with Tri-Ed’s guests, autographing small footballs provided by Tri-Ed, and having pictures taken. In fact, he signed my football with a message for my son.

Many of the industry’s manufacturers also took part in the celebration. Customers enjoyed special discounts, door prizes, and dinner served by Chicago’s Sweet Baby Ray’s. Grand Prize winners Pete Gallagher, and his son, from Vanguard Security took home the 32-in. LCD TV.

Tri-Ed’s new Chicago branch is located at 2546 Pratt Blvd. in Elk Grove Village, Ill. The branch manager is longtime industry veteran Scott Seibert, who is joined by Tim Jansen as inside sales associate. Seen here is the Tri-Ed Chicago branch staff, with Dan Hampton (in orange).
