Thomas & Betts Corp., Memphis, may be known for its patented Snap-N-Seal compression connectors, but the company traces its roots to 1898, when Robert M. Thomas and Hobart D. Betts formed an agency for selling conduit to electrical distributors. Both founders were engineers looking to capitalize on the introduction of incandescent lighting to New York City.
Today, Thomas & Betts designs and manufactures connectors and components for the security, electrical, and communications industries. Headquartered in Tennessee, the company has manufacturing, distribution and office facilities worldwide.
"Product innovation, quality manufacturing and customer service are what drive T&B," said Steve Skoufalos, sales director for the company.
Service to security product distributors also is a key focus for Thomas & Betts. A full sales force across the United States is backed up by a national customer service center and an Internet-based information system called T&B Access. Direct customers who visit the T&B Access section on the company's Web site can order products, check inventory, track shipments and download technical information.
