AVAD opened 10 new distribution centers over the period of a year, including this Raleigh, N.C. location.

One year after being acquired by Ingram Micro Inc., AVAD, Van Nuys, Calif., a distributor of custom home electronics, has expanded its product offerings, locations and services as a result of the acquisition.

Ten new AVAD distribution centers were opened in 2006, bringing the total number of locations to 37. The new distribution centers are located in Austin, Boston, Tampa, Raleigh, Chicago, Richmond, Philadelphia, San Jose, Las Vegas and a second location in Denver.

AVAD also increased its total staffing to enhance dealer service. A number of brands have been added to the available product line-up, including Toshiba, JVC, iPort, Niveus Media, Gefen, Niles, Goo Systems-Visual Reality and OmniMount. AVAD’s Dealer to Builder (D2B) program — which brings together builders and electronic system integrators for the mutual benefit of addressing the demand for sophisticated home technology systems — also expanded, with thousands of new installations underway.

AVAD established its D2B Program to bring builders, homebuyers and electronic systems contractors together to meet the consumer demand for home entertainment systems, electronics and other lifestyle amenities. The program strives to simplify the installation of such systems so they are easy to use, reliable and profitable for the builder and convenient for the homeowner.

AVAD’s electronic system contractors can install the whole gamut of home entertainment and electronic systems, including home theater, whole-house music, lighting control, structured wiring, central vacuum, telephone systems and home networking. All of AVAD’s electronic systems contractors receive certification in systems integration.

Integrators and builders who are a part of the AVAD’s D2B program also receive the benefit of receiving marketing support materials and sales training that help both the integrator and builder fully communicate the benefits of new home technology systems to potential buyers.
