WINNING! The 8th Annual Alarm Industry Research and Educational Foundation (AIREF) Golf Classic held yesterday at the Revere Golf Club was definitely WINNING!

The weather was idyllic, players numerous, and sponsors well-recognized. The WINNING! team, Tri-Ed/Northern Video with Bill Donahue, Tom Andrade, Robbie Russell, and Randy Rosiere, came in with an amazing score of 39. Each player received a $200 Bank of America gift card. Team ADT with Bill Cooper, David Simon, Mike Horgan, and David Koenig, finished with a score of 39 as well, but received second place due to a scorecard playoff and won $150 Bank America gift card. Third Place Team ADT with Tim Breeden, Jay Carpenter, Chuck Buker, and Cliff Mangrum, shooting a 41, won $100 Bank America gift cards. The Longest Drive #18 went to Nick English playing for ADT. Nick’s prize was a $200 gift card to Lobster Anywhere. The lucky winner of the 50/50 raffle, David Poser of Hometronic, who played on the DSC team, is leaving Vegas with an additional $3,500 in his pocket.

107 golfers played on Revere’s spectacular Concord Course. The event followed a shamble format, a combination of scramble and best ball. “Interest and participation was awesome this year,” said AIREF treasurer and golf co-chair, Jamie Orvis, owner of Security Solutions, Norwalk, Conn. “The overwhelming turnout signifies people are willing to tee-off and support a good cause when it benefits our industry.”

The post-play reception at the Revere Golf Clubhouse featured tournament awards, prizes, and presentations with stunning views of the Las Vegas skyline and mountain scenery in the background. The competitive course, great food, and excellent camaraderie  made for a truly WINNING! golf experience.

“It was an excellent networking opportunity for duffers and scratch golfers alike,” exclaimed Dom D’Ascoli, president of the Electronic Security Association.

For AIREF, the tournament served as its sole fundraising event, allowing the foundation to fund critical research and educational programs that benefit the security industry and enhance public safety. Kirk McDowell, of Interlogix, stated “the money generated today is critical to reaching AIREF’s goals.”  Major sponsors included Honeywell Security, the $25,000 Morris F. Weinstock Sponsor, and ADI, ADT, ISC West, and TriEd-Northern Video, the $10,000 Sara E. Jackson Sponsors.  The $5,000 Sponsors were Altronix, NAPCO, Interlogix, Honeywell Fire, and Vivint.  Generous contributions from industry notables sponsored golf holes, bottled water, hole-in-one prizes, putting green, and driving range.  The combined WINNING! effort made this tournament AIREF’s most successful golf event ever.
