CEDIA Offers Mobile Tools
The Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) launched a new mobile App available for download on Android, Blackberry and Apple devices.
The new app provides information resources and a communication platform for the industry. Downloading the app provides immediate access to the industry training calendar, twitter feed, facebook, industry news feed, and the CEDIA blog.
In addition, the app features tools exclusive to CEDIA members, such as a home theater calculator suite, access to all CEDIA white papers, a selection of professional marketing tools, quick reference in-the-field documents and the CEDIA member directory.
CEDIA continues development of new features for future versions of the app, such as the addition of tools to help members educate consumers about the technology solutions they provide, multiple language support, member profile update access, and more in-the-field tools. A tablet version of the App will also soon be available, CEDIA said.

App Keeps Access, Video & Intrusion in Harmony
AMAG Technology released Harmony, a web server application that can help security personnel manage AMAG’s Symmetry™ Security Management System. The app is browser-based, meaning it can run on any device equipped with a modern web browser, including laptops, smartphones, and tablets. Harmony is an ASP.NET web service that is installed on the user’s local network, and supports the standard Symmetry SMS and Symmetry Homeland SMS.
Harmony facilitates real time, on-the-spot monitoring and control from anywhere. Harmony gives users the power of a Symmetry SMS Client on a handheld device. It allows users in real-time to verify and manage cards, clear alarms, view activity and live video, muster, and control hardware out in the field.
8 More Minutes With IQ
After the success of the previous “2 Minutes with IQ” videos, featured in Digital Shuffle in September 2011, IQ Certification produced four sequels — now available on YouTube.
The IQ Certification program, a voluntary installation quality certification program for security alarm systems, produced these series of short videos called “2 Minutes with IQ” to increase awareness among central stations and dealers in the industry.
The videos are concise and provide valuable information for the security industry, law enforcement and consumers.
