Perimeter Intrusion Detection System for Fences
Azco Technologies Inc. released its Azco LightFence perimeter intrusion detection system, which uses a plastic optical fiber (AzcoWire) to detect intrusions on mesh, chain link and barbed-wire fences. Unlike microphone cables, plastic optical fiber only detects distortions caused by the intruder, and resists false alarms due to vibration or wind, according to the company. The fiber is anti-UV for outdoor installations and has an operating temperature of -40 to 85-deg. C. One single controller device protects up to 820 ft. of linear fence and several controllers can be placed in line for larger projects or to set zones.
