ScanSource Security Launches Creative, Video-Based Education Portal
The portal currently features more than 100 easy-to-watch videos, while ScanSource plans to post more than 400 by next year.
ScanSource® Security, Greenville, S.C., a value-added distributor of physical security products and a business unit of ScanSource Inc., launched ScanSource Security On-Demand, an online education and information portal for security and networking dealers and resellers. The portal currently features more than 100 easy-to-watch videos, while ScanSource plans to post more than 400 by next year.
The approach to ScanSource Security On-Demand’s style is light and creative. Visitors to the portal will first watch a 10 to zero countdown reminiscent of the introduction to an old-fashioned newsreel. The narrator describes, “From product highlights to marketing tips, from vertical market insights to financial strategies and mor — this new tool helps you upgrade your knowledge for success. Multiple channels, multiple vendors, multiple videos — all at your fingertips and all on demand.”
Through On-Demand, resellers have access to product reviews and how-to presentations that outline the features and functionality of security and networking products. Resellers also can uncover vertical market-specific information and learn how security can play in those markets. On-Demand also provides useful technical training tips that can help new security salespeople better understand physical security products.
On-Demand is ideal for dealers that are short on time and need information quickly. The Marketing Minute provides quick snippets on key marketing tools that can help resellers enhance their businesses, while Money Matters provides insight on financing and cost savings. The comprehensive portal also will take time out to deliver some entertainment and money-saving promotions.

In the segment, “Ask IP Man,” ScanSource Security tells viewers, “When you have tricky questions, you want expert answers. And when you Ask IP Man, that’s exactly what you get!” Another section titled, “Dynamic Demo” features ScanSource technical professionals explaining the unique features of various products — in one example, the Axis P5414-E camera — then provides a link to a live demonstration, as well as a link to the datasheet and other product information.
