Alert Alarm Hawaii (“Alert Alarm”), the largest security alarm monitoring company in Hawaii, announced today the successful completion of its acquisition of Sentinel Silent Alarm Co., Inc. (“Sentinel”), the second largest market participant in the state. The acquisition represents Alert Alarm’s eighth acquisition in the market during the last five years. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The company will continue to be operated under the Alert Alarm Hawaii brand.

Headquartered on Oahu in Aiea, Hawaii, with a branch office on Maui, Sentinel was founded in 1959 with the goal of providing safety and security to families and businesses throughout the state. Sentinel provides security services to residential and commercial customers on all of the islands. Sentinel was the first security alarm company in Hawaii and the only company with a UL listed locally monitored central station to offer integrated patrol and guard services in the state. Sentinel offers full service integrated systems, CCTV/camera systems, access control, burglary and fire systems.

Alert Alarm’s acquisition of Sentinel further increases its market leadership position in Hawaii, resulting in a total subscriber base of approximately 25,000 residential and commercial clients. Furthermore, Sentinel will enhance Alert Alarm’s coverage efforts on both Oahu and Maui and position the combined company for further growth in the Hawaiian market.

John Cannon, president of Alert Alarm, said, “Sentinel has been a respected and highly regarded competitor in the Hawaii market. Both Alert and Sentinel have roots that trace back over 50 years to the period immediately following statehood. We share a common commitment to service and relationships for the commercial and residential customer in the Hawaiian market. Sentinel, like Alert Alarm, has invested heavily in technology over the years to better serve its customers, and we look forward to welcoming Sentinel’s customers into the Alert Alarm ‘ohana.”
