Cox Adds 2 New Home Security Services Markets

June 19, 2014

Cox Communications, Atlanta, is continuing its expansion of home security and automation services by offering Cox Home Security to the Omaha and Wichita markets. Cox started offering Home Security three years ago in Arizona and has since rolled it out to six other markets (California, Oklahoma, New England, Ohio, Virginia and Las Vegas). Adding to its, Cox Home Security is offers to customers alongside a portfolio of communications services including high speed Internet, cable TV and phone, to provide “ a multifaceted solution to help keep loved ones and homes safe,” according to the company.

Cox Home Security provides:

  • Intrusion and home safety monitoring (includes fire, gas and flood)
  • Remote access so the system can be controlled away from home via a secure online site or smartphone app
  • Email/text alerts to notify customers of occurrences at the home
  • Safety sensors to detect hazardous conditions such as carbon monoxide and smoke
  • Secure video monitoring and recording available via smartphone or a Web browser
  • Control of home functions such as lighting and temperature

“Customers trust Cox each day to connect them to the things they care about most and home and family are at the top of that list. Cox Home Security is a natural extension of the communication services we deliver — enabling our customers with a stronger sense of connectedness, personal control and security," said Kristine Faulkner, vice president and general manager of Cox Home Security and Smart Home.

One of Cox's competitive advantages with this product is the ability to offer to customers through a Cox bundle, the company emphasizes. With the addition of home security services, all of a customer's Cox services appear on one bill.

Faulkner has been leading the company's Home Security organization for several months and oversees all related operational strategies, including marketing, sales and customer experience. She confirms plans to roll out Cox Home Security to additional markets this year.

"Cox Home Security is consistent with our desire to deliver solutions that meet the individual and unique needs of each customer," Faulkner said. "One home may require a video camera near their pool for safety reasons. Another family may want text message alerts sent when children arrive home from school. No two experiences are exactly alike."
