SAFE Security Appoints Industry Veteran Franklyn as New VP

July 23, 2014

SAFE Security, San Ramon, Calif., announcedthat industry veteran Gary Franklyn joined the firm as vice president of marketing and business partnerships. In this role he is responsible for developing and producing creative, innovative strategic partnership programs and multi-faceted marketing and promotional campaigns targeted at recurring monthly revenue (RMR) growth and customer retention. Franklyn comes with extensive knowledge and experience within the industry, having spent the last eight years at Security Networks, West Palm Beach, Fla., where he created its affiliate dealer program growing the company’s start-up affiliate business to more than $100 million in annual revenue. The company was recently acquired by Monitronics, Dallas.

“SAFE is looking to grow its business through several different arenas and become a progressive leader setting standards in the industry,” Franklyn told SDM in an interview. “I am excited for the opportunity for a new challenge at SAFE and look forward to working with the team to further develop its already extensive product and service suite. I am fortunate to be joining such a respected company that prides itself on top quality service,” Franklyn said.

After helping Monitronics with the transition after its purchase of Security Networks, which ranked No. 14 on the 2013 SDM 100 when purchased, Franklyn connected with SAFE Security. “I was familiar with its reputation and staff. In fact, the company reminded me of where Security Networks was a few years ago before we worked hard to grow it, so I was excited about the opportunity. SAFE Security has grown its previously business through acquisition and they hired me to put together programs, products and services that will add to the sales portfolio, increase RMR and add to its strengths,” Franklyn said.

Currently, SAFE Security is ranked No. 21 on the SDM 100, with RMR of more than 4 million, up 138 percent compared to December 2012, and with the appointment of Franklyn, the company expects to grow that number via multiple avenues.

“My task is to grow the business internally though new acquisitions, new branch operations and through a DIY program that is just coming out of Beta Testing,” Franklyn told SDM. He’ll also be growing the company’s social media presence.

Paul Sargenti, SAFE president and chief executive officer said “Gary’s wealth of experience and industry knowledge has already made him a key addition to the SAFE Security family. His appointment is a sign of our commitment to being an innovator in the industry; we want to set the trends not react to them!  Our rapid growth and the increasing challenge to present new products and services to our customers led us to look for an addition to our team who will fit in with our ethos of innovation and exceptional service and it is very fortunate that we were able to find someone of Gary’s caliber to fulfill this role. I’m confident that he will play a key part in developing and implementing affinity relationships and ground-breaking programs that will make SAFE a trailblazer of the industry.”

Founded in 1988, SAFE Security is one of the few fully national alarm companies with operations in 50 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. The “SAFE Companies” umbrella includes SAFE Security, a full service alarm company, SAFE Monitoring Technologies and California Security Alarms, Inc., a full service alarm company. SAFE’s platform includes an experienced management team, wholly-owned central monitoring station, an active Dealer Program, authorized national service provider network and the resource infrastructure to provide business and account management services, all kept current to allow for expansion in all areas. SAFE focuses on excellence in customer service and provides a full range of services for dealers in its SAFE Dealer Network such as monitoring, billing, collections, and marketing, and has maintained a reputation for stability and integrity in the industry.
