Bold Technologies Acquires ABM Data Systems

September 25, 2014

Bold Technologies, Colorado Springs, Colo., a provider of central station and PSIM software, acquired fellow automation provider, ABM Data Systems, on September 11, 2014. Bold Technologies said it will retain the staff and products of ABM Data Systems. The acquisition significantly increases Bold’s customer base and supplements the company’s product portfolio, while adding substantial industry experience to the Bold Technologies’ team, it also said.

Bold Technologies will continue to support and maintain ABM’s Phoenix platform, and Bold’s leadership team expressed their commitment to the Phoenix user community.

“ABM Data Systems, like Bold Technologies, has an established reputation of offering quality products, and providing exceptional support. Now that ABM is a division of Bold Technologies, that commitment to a superior end-to-end customer experience will only be reinforced,” emphasized Chuck Speck, president of Bold Technologies, “Bringing the Phoenix users into our Bold community will allow them access to new tools, additional services, and further resources. This change means great things for Phoenix users.”

ABM Data Systems had been providing alarm automation solutions to monitoring centers throughout North and South America since 1980. The Phoenix Alarm Automation software provides a value-based solution that is highly utilized in financial institutions, school districts, universities, police departments, and retail organizations, Bold Technologies described.

In addition to the customer base and product lines, ABM’s tenured staff with more than 90 years of combined industry experience was a factor in Bold’s decision to acquire ABM. “The acquisition of ABM Data Systems adds a team with vast experience and knowledge to Bold Technologies. Adding this caliber of industry and technical expertise will further cement Bold as the industry leader for providing innovative products, superior services, and exceptional customer support,” said Rod Coles, CEO of Bold Technologies.

The acquisition was well received at ABM. Scott Lawson, former president/CEO of ABM Data Systems, said, “I am excited by the team, the technology, and the vision of Bold Technologies — I am eager to jump in and be part of it all.”

Marti Sevier, former COO/Tech Support manager for ABM, agreed. “We are thrilled to join the Bold Technologies team. With their support, we can offer more options to the Phoenix user base, while still providing the same excellent service that our customers expect and deserve.”

Bold Technologies has been providing central station and alarm automation software since 1981. The company’s award-winning Manitou solution is an enterprise-level, UL-approved application that incorporates the industry’s latest technologies, Bold described. Manitou was developed to be scalable from smaller monitoring stations to central stations with hundreds of thousands of accounts. Bold Technologies said its purchase of ABM Data Systems “combines complementary strengths to create a company with an unprecedented range of products, services, and technical expertise for the electronic security industry.”
