ISC West, the world’s largest physical security industry gathering, sponsored by the Security Industry Association (SIA), will take place April 14-17 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.

This industry event offers a multitude of offerings for improving attendees’ industry knowledge, such as the SIA Education@ISC program (April 14-16), which debuted last year and features three days full of 60 intensive educational courses; SIA New Product Showcase; the ISC West exhibit hall; networking events; awards ceremonies, and more.

For the first time ever, SIA will hold its annual members’ meeting at The Advance at ISC West in Las Vegas. SIA will offer a program and presentation of awards including SIA Chairman’s Award, SIA Committee Chair of the Year Award, SIA Volunteer of the Year Award, and various SIA Milestone Awards. In addition, guests will also have the opportunity to learn about SIA’s plans for the coming year as the organization will preview information about the SIA Government Summit, Securing New Ground and other events.

If last year’s success is an indicator for 2015, the convention promises to bring even more opportunities for industry attendees.

“SIA and ISC Events presented an incredible agenda of exhibits, networking events, educational sessions, and awards programs during ISC West 2014. ISC West remains the first industry event of the year at which cutting-edge security products are launched,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “The ISC Events team worked seamlessly with SIA to provide first-class customer service to exhibitors and thousands of show attendees. The overwhelming participation in ISC West is a clear reflection of a strong, growing and vibrant industry.”

As of press time, the mobile app for the show was not yet available, but for updated information on events, to download the ISC West mobile app when it becomes available, and more, visit www.iscwest.com.

A staple event at ISC West and the cornerstone of Mission 500’s fundraising efforts to assist children in crisis around the world, is the annual Security 5K/2K run/walk, which will be held once again during ISC West 2015.

Now in its sixth year, the event draws on support from professionals in the security industry, working with World Vision as the implementation partner. For this year’s event, which will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on April 16, Mission 500 is striving to break records by attracting more than 1,000 participants.

“The Mission 500 Security 5K/2K run/walk continues to be a remarkable event that has united the security industry in helping provide aid for children in need,” said George Fletcher, Advisory Council member/volunteer, Mission 500. “We are truly grateful for the continued enthusiasm and support from corporations and individuals in this incredibly generous industry. Building on the success of the 2014 Security 5K/2K, we are aiming for record-breaking participation this year.”

New this year is the 500 Club, which will be made up of Security 5K/2K participants who succeed in raising $500 or more for children in crisis in the United States. Each participant who achieves this level of support will receive a gift of appreciation they can wear with pride during the Security 5K/2K and/or at ISC West and other industry events.

Security industry professionals can support Mission 500 in a variety of ways, including volunteering to help with the Security 5K/2K and other events at ISC West or making financial donations. All donations are tax-deductible and can be made with major credit cards and American Express loyalty points.

The Security 5K reception and awards ceremony will take place in the afternoon on April 16. In addition to recognizing top fundraisers, the awards ceremony will highlight Mission 500’s achievements and set the stage for even bigger things to come, stated the organization in a press release.

Organizing sponsors and the Mission 500 organization will also present awards to runners in different age categories and to the top male and female runners.

Mission 500 will also be involved in a number of other initiatives at ISC West. At press time, these included the AIREF golf tournament sponsored by ESA on April 14 and an HID-sponsored school kit build, which will take place in the registration area in the G Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 16.
