ISC WEST 2015: Telguard HomeControl Expands With the Introduction of HomeControl Flex™

April 14, 2015

ISC WEST 2015

Telguard, (ISCW15, Booth #18109), Atlanta, announced HomeControl Flex, an addition to its Telguard HomeControl family of home automation solutions. HomeControl Flex allows end users to integrate over 170 smart home products and web services with their security system using the free Internet of Things (IoT) services of IFTTT.

IFTTT, (pronounced like “gift” without the g), is a service that lets consumers create powerful connections with one simple statement – “if this, then that”. HomeControl Flex doesn’t stop at lights, locks and thermostats, it lets end users connect their security system easily and affordably to almost any part of their lives including their wearables, cars, work schedules, and daily habits.

With the existing Telguard HomeControl platform for 2GIG and DSC, security dealers can still offer a curated home automation ecosystem, but with the addition of HomeControl Flex, dealers can now choose to focus on delivering professionally monitored security, while allowing the end user to self-integrate and self-support consumer products via free IoT services.

“Through our years of experience in the security space and our deep understanding of dealers’ needs, we know that many independent dealers do not accept the assertion that home automation must replace security as their business’s foundation. Industry-wide it is recognized that well over half of home automation installations only include the simplest level of remote interactivity,” said Shawn Welsh, vice president of marketing and business development, Telular. “With the addition of HomeControl Flex, security dealers have a new option in interactive services that avoids the costs of training and supporting complex offerings without forsaking the end-user’s demand for integrated products.”

Offered with all of Telguard’s 3G/4G and CDMA universal cellular alarm communicators, HomeControl Flex is available to dealers as a low cost, basic remote arming add-on. End users can utilize a new set of mobile apps for Android, iPhone and Windows Phone to remotely arm their system with prebuilt automation rules from IFTTT to connect to the ever expanding list of consumer products and services they use every day.

For those dealers who prefer the opportunity to highlight their brand, HomeControl Flex features a customizable portal whereby a dealer’s logo and color theme dominate the UI and give them a closer connection with their end users. As a bonus to current Telguard dealers, existing Telguard Interactive accounts can be upgraded to HomeControl Flex without any additional fees and they will immediately have access to all of the new features and flexibility available with HomeControl Flex: IFTTT connectivity, its portal and mobile apps.

HomeControl Flex is currently in Friends and Family testing mode, and will be fully available to security dealers in May. The company recommends that interested dealers contact his or her Telguard representative and ask to take HomeControl Flex for a test drive, stated the company.
