Hikvision USA has partnered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), helping the organization fund cancer research and provide support to those affected by the disease. On September 19, Hikvision USA employees and their families participated in the Light the Night Walk at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., an event that raised more than $500,000 to fund life-saving therapies and treatments.

With a focus on funding cancer research and providing access to medical care LLS has quadrupled blood cancer survival rates over the past 40 years.  LLS-funded research has led to many of today’s most promising advances, including targeted therapies and immunotherapies. The Light the Night Walk — which gets its name from the lanterns carried by team members and cancer survivors during the walk — is one of the organization’s most impactful fundraising efforts: more than $495 million has been contributed by participants and donors since 1999.

“It’s a truly amazing sight to see, as survivors and their families walk in solidarity and harmony surrounded by illuminated lanterns that signify strength, honor and hope,” said Michael Shumard, executive director of LLS, Orange County Inland Empire Chapter. “We so very much appreciate all of the support of our participants, volunteers, donors and corporate sponsors. Without them, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society wouldn’t have been able to achieve the medical breakthroughs and milestones that have already helped so many.”

Anna Boudinot, content manager for Hikvision USA, served as the team’s Light the Night Walk captain. “The walk, along with our fundraising campaign, has been a wonderful opportunity to witness the generosity of my colleagues at Hikvision and the support from our business partners, families and friends,” she said.

Hikvision’s commitment extends to a second Light the Night event, in Los Angeles on October 10. They encourage anyone interested in supporting LLS to donate via their team website, http://pages.lightthenight.org/calso/UCLA15/teamhikvisionusa.

“Among the great accomplishments that Hikvision has made in North America is our dedication to social responsibility,” said Jeffrey He, president of Hikvision USA and Hikvision Canada. “We believe that giving back to the community is an important aspect of building positive relationships with our employees and customers, and we are honored to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their cause.”
