Comtrend announced its PG-9172PoE, a G.hn powerline adapter with Power over Ethernet. The adapter brings connection of a PoE device as close as the nearest electrical outlet. The PG-9172PoE reduces installation time and cost by utilizing existing electrical lines to simplify the deployment of PoE-enabled devices such as IP cameras and VoIP phones. The powerline adapter eliminates the installation of Ethernet (CAT5e/6) cables to every device throughout a home or business. Unlike Wi-Fi connections, powerline adapters use physical wires to connect directly to devices, thereby eliminating interference and improving performance and security.
