Verkada’s flagship event, VerkadaOne 2024, brought together more than 1,600 security professionals, technology resellers and integration partners from around the globe. Hosted in Denver, the event (Sept. 17-19) highlighted the company’s continued advance in the physical security space, with major product announcements, insightful sessions, and a vision of a future shaped by artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud-based security systems. 

More than just a corporate showcase, VerkadaOne has evolved into a must-attend event for security professionals looking to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market, Todd Jackson, vice president of sales operations at Pavion, told SDM. 

Jackson said Pavion, winner of SDM’s 2022 Systems Integrator of the Year, made the investment to partner with the company based on its “consumer friendly” platform that allows for real-time insights, seamless scalability and enhanced control over physical security systems, which sets it apart from traditional on-premise solutions. 

Strengthening relationships with security integrators and channel partners was a key focus at VerkadaOne 2024. Caleb Augustin, Verkada’s director of global channel, emphasized the company’s deepened commitment to its partner ecosystem during a conversation with SDM. He outlined significant enhancements to the partner program, including expanded training opportunities, advanced sales enablement tools, and new initiatives aimed at helping resellers harness Verkada’s AI-driven product portfolio to drive revenue growth and better meet customer needs.

For attendees, VerkadaOne is more than just a product launch venue. It offers a comprehensive experience that includes: 

Product demonstrations: Live, hands-on demonstrations of the company’s advanced security solutions, such as its cloud-managed surveillance cameras, access control systems and environmental sensors. Attendees can interact directly with new products, giving them first-hand experience with the technology they’ll be implementing for clients. 

Exclusive announcements: Verkada typically reserves the event for high-profile product announcements, giving partners and integrators early insights into its roadmap. This allows resellers to stay ahead of the competition by offering the latest solutions to their customers as soon as they become available. 

Breakout sessions & workshops: These sessions delve into topics such as cybersecurity best practices, system scalability and real-world case studies where Verkada’s solutions have transformed organizational security. Workshops include hands-on training, giving participants practical skills to deploy Verkada products more effectively. 

Strategic insights: Senior leadership from Verkada, along with industry experts, present keynote sessions that provide a broader view of the trends shaping the security market. From AI and machine learning to cloud infrastructure and data privacy, attendees gain knowledge on how these factors are influencing security innovation and how to position themselves for growth. 

VerkadaOne 2024 saw the unveiling of several next-generation products designed to push the boundaries of physical security. Highlights included the launch of AI-enabled alerts, which allow organizations to set customized notifications based on specific security requirements, such as detecting whether an individual on camera is not wearing required safety gear. The company said this new feature demonstrates how AI is becoming an indispensable tool for enhancing security and operational oversight. 

Additionally, Verkada showcased the Occupancy Trends dashboard, a new tool aimed at helping organizations monitor the usage of their spaces over time. By providing detailed data on how buildings and facilities are being used, the dashboard enables companies to make informed decisions about staffing, security, and resource allocation.

VerkadaOne 2025 will be hosted in Chicago, September 22-24.

Filip Kaliszan, Verkada’s CEO, set the tone for the event with a keynote presentation outlining the company’s strategic direction, emphasizing how Verkada is leveraging AI to enhance security and operational efficiency for businesses across a wide range of industries. Kaliszan discussed the company’s commitment to cloud-based systems, revealing how the company’s expanding platform is meeting the evolving needs of security integrators and their clients.

The VerkadaOne Attendee Hub featured physical product demonstrations of every major Verkada product, including core deployments from some of the company's most impactful use cases. In addition to its own technology, the Attendee Hub included sponsor booths from Verkada technology partners including ASSA ABLOY, Schlage, Exgtreme Networks and Hivewatch.

Manuel Castro, senior product manager, cameras hardware, featured new form factor releases. These included the CF83-E fisheye model. The camera has been designed with user-friendliness in mind, featuring captive screws for easy mounting, built-in leveling tools, and a durable metal casing that protects against harsh weather and sun damage.

Pushpak Pujari, director of product management, cameras, led a session to share capabilities and use cases for Verkada’s new Command Connector. The new offering acts as a bridge, enabling users to manage both existing third-party cameras and new Verkada hardware within a single, centralized system. This integration allows customers to access advanced features like AI-powered search and various analytics, enhancing the capabilities of their security systems.

Jake Leichtling, Director of Product Management for Access Control at Verkada, showcased new form factors and capabilities for the company’s next-generation door readers. Building on the improvements of the AD34, which enhances credential scanning performance, LED feedback, and BLE hands-free unlocking using time-of-flight technology, Verkada introduced its first door reader with a keypad, the AD64. This new model not only retains all the features of the AD34 but also allows organizations to grant access via a simple PIN code and supports multi-factor authentication for added security.

The company announced a new alarm panel designed to enhance security management through its integration with the Verkada Command platform. The panel features advanced functionalities, including simplified installation, allowing users to connect up to 100 devices per panel without requiring a dedicated power supply. It supports a variety of sensors, such as motion detectors, glass break sensors and door/window contacts, enabling organizations to tailor their security systems to their specific needs. The new offering also features greatly organized wiring, doing away with the all-too-common "rat's nest" found in legacy alarm panel cans, as exampled on the stage here.
