Last year marked the 10th anniversary of the Security Industry Association’s (SIA) Central Station Operator (CSOp) Train-the-Trainer program. SIA held five Train-the-Trainer classes and certified 37 new instructors in 2005.

The association will offer the following CSOp classes in 2006:

  • May 15-19, Philadelphia
  • June 12-16, Bay City, Mich.
  • Sept. 11-15, Las Vegas
  • Oct. 20-24, Toronto, Ontario

SIA also will hold Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM) classes for 2006, in locations throughout the United States. While CSPM follows the general structure and principles of a typical project management certification program, the credential is specifically focused on the security project manager. The five-day series includes coursework covering: contracts, codes and risk management, security project management, estimating security projects, project financial management, and managing the project team.

Prior to attending the classroom programs, attendees must complete about 20 hours of prerequisite self-study coursework.

CSPM classes for 2006 include:

  • May 8-12, Chicago
  • June 12-16, Baltimore
  • July 31-Aug. 4, Dallas
  • Aug. 14-18, Denver
  • Sept. 26-30, San Diego
  • Oct. 30-Nov.3, Miami
  • Nov. 13-17, San Francisco
