The Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) announced the winner of the 2010 William N. Moody Award for outstanding excellence in the security alarm industry. This year’s recipient was Ivan Spector, president of Sentinel Alarm Company in Montreal, Canada. SIAC executive director Stan Marin presented Spector with the award at the icebreaker luncheon at the Electronic Security Expo in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Created in 2004 by the SIAC board of directors, the William N. Moody Award acknowledges individuals who unselfishly give of their time and talents to alarm management issues and who reflect the attributes of Bill Moody, including integrity, fairness and perseverance in the face of adversity, according to SIAC.

“Ivan has been a tireless leader in our industry for more than 25 years,” said Martin. “He was a founding member of SIAC and even served as our public relations chair. His keen insight and great wisdom has truly advanced alarm management in both Canada and the United States.”

Spector served the alarm industry in numerous leadership roles. His involvement with CANASA includes its board of directors, national president and chairman of the Response committee. In this role, Spector proved instrumental in driving many of SIAC’s false dispatch reduction initiatives.

Currently, Spector also serves on the board of directors for CSAA. In addition to his involvement in serving the alarm industry, Spector also gives back to the Montreal community by volunteering his time on the board of directors of the Starlight Foundation. This organization helps gravely ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities.
