Altronix Powers Bank’s Security

March 18, 2013
AltronixNZ
Altronix’s HubWay and HubSat UTP transceivers, along with its VertiLine rack-mount power solutions, play pivotal roles in supplying power to analog and IP cameras at the Bank of New Zealand’s 179 branches and 36 business centers.

Founded in 1861 the Bank of New Zealand is one of that country’s largest banks, employing more than 5,000 people at 179 branches and 36 business centers. When the bank was looking to provide reliable power to analog and IP cameras and other security equipment across all its locations, it turned to Altronix – and hasn’t looked back.

“Since we first specified Altronix solutions, we have not experienced a single failure, which speaks for itself,” said Karen Timpson, security operations manager, Bank of New Zealand.

The bank uses a variety of low-voltage power supplies and accessories from Altronix, including wall- and rack-mount analog power supplies, Altronix HubWay and HubSat UTP transceivers to transmit video across structured cabling, and VertiLine series models to provide centralized rack power in a rack configuration.

Mark Massicks, general manager of Asset Security Distribution Ltd., said the breadth of Altronix’s products and their field-proven reputation were major factors in choosing the company’s technologies and solutions for the Bank of New Zealand. The bank also has a history with Altronix products, having standardized on Altronix rack-mount power supplies for analog video when it rolled out a new DVR platform in 2006. In 2009, the bank implemented Altronix HubWay UTP solutions to upgrade from coax cable to unshielded twisted pair (UTP).  Today, HubWay transceivers coupled with HubWayAvP or HubWayDv video balun/combiners allow the bank to use existing AC and DC analog cameras. The new cable infrastructure enables migration to IP video when and where required by addeing Altronix NetWay midspans.

“The constant changes in video surveillance are now making the deployment of IP cameras much easier and cost effective,” Massicks said. “Altronix products cover every base from video surveillance to access control on any infrastructure platform. We can meet or exceed all of our customer’s requirements using Altronix solutions.”
