Select Security, Lancaster, Pa., expanded into Kentucky with the acquisition of three local companies. Over the past several months, Select Security has welcomed the employees and several thousand customers from Comstar Systems in Bowling Green, AAA Systems in Elizabethtown, and Bardstown Alarm in Bardstown.

“Our Western Region has grown significantly this year with our expansion into Kentucky, and we expect this to continue,” said Steve Firestone, Select Security president. “In addition to these three, we anticipate announcing additional acquisitions in the next few months including another possible one in Kentucky before the year’s end.”

To establish and build the Select Security brand in Kentucky, the company has invested significant resources in community involvement, including a sponsorship of Western Kentucky University’s sports teams.

“The response from our newest customers in Kentucky has been positive,” said David Nardontonia, general manager for Select Security’s Western Region. “We’ve been busy introducing the Select Security brand and have heard from many of our key accounts that they appreciate our world-class customer care, higher level of customer experience, and our ability to now provide them with advanced products and services that weren’t available to them before.”

Select Security also announced that it acquired the assets of Morgantown, W.V.-based Secure US. This purchase allowed Select Security to add nearly 5,000 new customers and its first local office in the state of West Virginia. “Our entry into West Virginia is the realization of a long-time goal of mine,” said Select Security’s founder and CEO, Patrick Egan. “I’ve been working for several years on this and am pleased with the acquisition of this property.”

The Morgantown local office gained as part of the acquisition remains open, and the company is actively seeking a new and larger facility to house the additional staff currently being hired. Firestone noted that the company has committed significant resources to rebrand the new territory and welcome the new customers as quickly as possible. Additionally, Select Security is investing in building its brand in West Virginia through extensive community involvement as it does in other locations.

“We see West Virginia as an important market for us, and this acquisition fits wonderfully with our plans,” Firestone commented. “We’ve heard praise from some of the key accounts we’ve met with already, who are excited about the higher level of customer service and advanced products that are now available to them.”

Select Security was founded in 2003. It ranks as No. 48 on the 2014 SDM 100 Report.
