Users of monitored home and business security alarms in Montgomery, Ala. will benefit from faster, more accurate emergency response as the city becomes the latest municipality to implement Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP), a technology designed to automate communication between alarm monitoring central stations and public safety dispatch/911 centers.

The Monitoring Association (TMA) has appointed Illeny Maaza to the position of director, membership and programs, and Leigh A. McGuire to the position of director of marketing and communications. 

TMA Past President Bud Wulforst was announced as a new recipient of the association’s highest honor, the Stanley C. Lott Memorial Award for Exemplary Service, at the 2018 Annual Meeting. 

Just days before starting her new role as executive director of TMA, Celia Besore spoke with SDM about her vision for the association. 

Celia T. Besore, MBA, CAE will become the new executive director of The Monitoring Association (TMA). Besore currently serves as TMA’s vice president of membership and programs and previously worked at the association as vice president of marketing and communications. The first woman to lead TMA staff as executive director, Besore will assume her new position on November 1, following the retirement of Executive Director Jay Hauhn on October 31.

At the general membership meeting in Nashville this June, TMA members chose Ivan Spector of Montreal-based Sentinel Alarm Co. as their next president. In anticipation of the changes, SDM spoke with Spector regarding his upcoming appointment.

The Monitoring Association (TMA) has renewed The Protection Bureau’s Five Diamond Monitoring Center designation. This designation is granted annually to monitoring centers that satisfy all of the requirements of the five points of excellence, the company said in a press release.

The first official annual meeting of the newly-named The Monitoring Association (TMA) will build on the previous successful meetings of the Central Station Alarm Association. TMA will welcome keynote speaker Jack Uldrich, a well-recognized global futurist, speaker and author of 11 books.
