This week, the Electronic Security Association’s National Training School launched its new Online Instructor Led Training (OILT) platform providing synchronous online training to its customers. ESA has been a front-runner when it comes to offering online courses for the electronic security industry, and the association’s training school continues to evolve with this new and convenient delivery method.

“We are extremely excited to deliver this learning format to our National Training School students,” said Michelle Yungblut, ESA’s vice president of training and certification. “We are constantly innovating and customizing our classes to deliver the strongest — and most widely accepted — content in training formats that fit the diverse learning styles of our industry’s professionals.”

Synchronous online training combines online and live training and activates the student, instructor and course materials all at the same time.

NTS will now bring students from across the state or country to an instructor-led course, using high-quality video and screen sharing that allows the instructors to teach the course virtually. Not only can the students see the instructor, but they can also see other students via their webcams.

ESA said the National Training School is the first in the industry to deliver this method of training.

Students can also interact with each other during Q-&-A sessions or chat features in the tool’s interface.

“Being a not-for-profit organization allows our mission, our purpose, to focus very powerfully, not on our next dollar, but on quality education that allows our customers to learn, get licensed and hone their expertise,” Yungblut added.

The National Training School has released dates for the next round of pilot courses. More courses will be added throughout the remainder of the year, as additional instructors and training providers transition to the new delivery platform.
